In 1930, when the county was established, it was designated as the third district. In 1958, wuluqiao commune was built during the communization period. In 1967, it was renamed Yuejin commune. In August 1984, the township was changed from shejian township to wuluqiao township. In 1990, it was renamed wuluchele township. In October 1998, wuluchele town was changed from township to town. As of October 2019, wuruchel town has jurisdiction over 2 communities and 34 administrative villages.
