Bayan Township, belonging to Huangyuan County, Xining City, Qinghai Province, is located in the northwest of Huangyuan County, adjacent to shangwuzhuang of Huangzhong County in the East, Shenzhong Township in the south, Sizhai Township in the West and Haiyan County in the north. The area is 120.54 square kilometers. In 2018, there were 10710 registered residence population.

Before 1949, it was Bayan township. In 1949, for Fuhai township. In 1952, it was changed to Bayan township. In 1958, Feihai commune was set up, and in 1984, Bayan township was reestablished. As of October 2019, Bayan township has 15 administrative villages.
