Madang Town, belonging to Xiahe County, Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu Province, is located in the northeast of Xiahe County, connecting qu'ao Township in the East, wanggetang town in the south, Ganjia Township in the West and qu'ao Township in the north. The area is 359.37 square kilometers. In 2018, 5715 people registered residence.
In December 1948, Madang Township belonged to Qingshui district. In September 1958, the district and township system was abolished and communization was implemented. From September to November 1983, Madang township was established. In March 2017, the township was removed to build a town. In June 2020, Madang town governs six administrative villages.

Madang town is located in the valley of Daxia River, the terrain gradually rises from east to west, from north to south. The terrain is plateau mountain. Dalijia mountain is the main mountain range. Dalijia mountain, the highest peak in the territory, is located at the junction of Ganjia Township, with an altitude of 4100 meters; Daxia River Valley, the lowest point, is located at Aosai village, with an altitude of 2200 meters.
