In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Xixiang 19th society. In 1953, it belonged to the hometown of Hulin in eight districts. In 1956, it was changed to Hulin's Dongxiang township. In 1958, Hulin family commune was established. It is under the jurisdiction of Linxia county. In 1981, Jishishan county was established under the jurisdiction of Jishishan county. In 1983, it was set as the hometown of Hulin. In June 2020, Hu Lin's hometown governs nine administrative villages.
