In 1473, LEIWANG Township belonged to haoquanli; in January 1983, it was changed from Longshan commune to LEIWANG township. As of June 2020, LEIWANG village has 17 administrative villages under its jurisdiction, and the Township People's government is located in Xuehe village.

History of construction
LEIWANG township is named after LEIWANG mountain.
In the ninth year of Chenghua (1473) of Ming Dynasty, the territory belonged to haoquanli.
In April 1925, it was Longshan township. In September 1927, it belonged to the third district. In 1947, Longshan Township and Longlin Township were merged into Shuanglong township.
In April 1950, it was located in Longshan township of Biyu (Ciba District).
In 1958, after xilihe County, Longshan township was incorporated into Zhongba commune.
In July 1962, Longshan commune was set up after the division of Xili.
In May 1966, Longshan commune was abolished.
In October 1968, Longshan commune was reestablished.
In January 1983, Longshan commune was removed and LEIWANG township was established.
