Hengliang township is located in the arid mountainous area in the southeast of Gulang county. It is one of the poverty-stricken townships in Gulang county. It is adjacent to Gancheng town in the East, Tianzhu County in the south, Huangyangchuan in the west, Minquan Township in the north, and ten highways across the township. It is about 18 km long from east to west and 13 km long from north to south. The terrain is high in the South and low in the north. The gully is crisscross and the terrain is complex. The soil is mainly black soil, red clay and red sandy soil. The total soil area of the township is 192.14 square kilometers. The township is an arid eryin area with an altitude of 2200-2700 meters, annual rainfall of about 250 mm and frost free period of about 120 days.
