Shandan Town, belonging to Wushan County, Tianshui, Gansu, is located on the west side of Wushan County town, adjacent to Chengguan town in the East, and connected with the town of Tan town in the south. It borders on the town of Mari and southwest, and connects with the Yuanyang town. The north is adjacent to yulpan Town, with a total area of 117.53 square kilometers, and in 2018, 26506 people registered residence.
In the Ming Dynasty, Ningyuan county was located in the city. In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to shijiali of Ningyuan county. After the first year of the Republic of China (1912), it belonged to Shandan Town, Wushan County. In August 1949, after the liberation of Wushan, it belonged to the urban area of the county, with Shandan, Hanchuan, Qingchi, Shuiyu, a town and three townships. In December 1983, it was changed to Shandan township. In 2015, the township was set up. By 2020, Shandan town has 4 communities and 18 administrative villages.

In the Ming Dynasty, Ningyuan county was located in the city.
In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to shijiali of Ningyuan county.

In August 1949, after the liberation of Wushan, it belonged to the urban area of the county, with Shandan, Hanchuan, Qingchi, Shuiyu, a town and three townships.
In October 1953, it belonged to the urban area of the county, with 1 town and 2 townships of Jiahe, Shandan and Qingchi.
In November 1955, three townships (towns) were merged into Shandan town.
In September 1958, it was incorporated into Chaoying commune and set up two management areas, Shuiyu and Shandan.
In January 1962, it was changed into Shandan commune and Shuiyu commune.
In August 1965, the district was withdrawn and the commune was merged. Shuiyu commune was merged into Shandan commune.
In December 1983, it was changed to Shandan township.
In 2015, the township was set up.
