Historical evolution
Because it is located in the upper reaches of Jialing River, this section of the river water is clear, commonly known as Baishui River.
In 545, the 11th year of Liang Datong in the Southern Dynasty, changju county was established.
In 1723, Baishuijiang town was established.
In 1912, Baishui township was established.
In December 1949, Baishuijiang district was set up, under the jurisdiction of nine townships.
In 1953, it was renamed Jiangzhen district and designated as MoBa Township guichengguan district.
In 1958, Jiangzhen commune was established, with five administrative areas under its jurisdiction.
