Beiba town
Beiba town belongs to Nanzheng District, Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province. Located in the south of Nanzheng district to the East, it is the hinterland of Daba Mountain at the junction of Sichuan and Shaanxi. It is adjacent to Fucheng town in the East, zhushuihe town and Huitan town in Tongjiang County, Sichuan Province in the south, Shaba town in Nanjiang County, Sichuan Province in the west, and Xiaonanhai town and Fazhen town in the north. Its total area is 462.15 square kilometers.
As of June 2020, Beiba town has one community and 14 administrative villages. By the end of 2018, the registered residence of the town was 13013. In 2011, the total agricultural output value of Beiba town reached 110 million yuan, the total industrial output value reached 24.5 million yuan, and the total social commodity sales reached 24.3 million yuan.
Historical evolution
It used to be called Bei Ba Chang, so it was named after a large stone tablet in Diji town.
Originally in Tongjiang County, Sichuan Province. In the Qing Dynasty, it was the site of chengjiaba and Beiba under the jurisdiction of Tongjiang County, Baoning Prefecture, Sichuan Province.
In 1933, the Fourth Front Army of the Red Army liberated the Beiba area and established the Soviet government of Baxi District, Hongjiang County, Sichuan and Shaanxi Province, which governed most of the present Beiba area. After the long march of the Red Army to the north, the Beiba area was under the jurisdiction of Tongjiang County.
In 1949, it was under the jurisdiction of Fuyang district and hepingxi District of Tongjiang County.
After liberation, it was under the jurisdiction of Pingxi District of Tongjiang County.
In 1952, Beiba district was officially established, with jurisdiction over 9 townships.
At the end of 1954, it was assigned to Nanzheng County.
At the end of 1958, it became Beiba commune.
In 1984, it was changed into Beiba township.
In 1996, Beiba Township and Qianjin Township merged to build Beiba town.
In July 2011, Xihe township was incorporated.
