Yaoshan Notre Dame Temple Fair
Hanjing town is located at the northern foot of Yaoshan mountain. There are more than 90 temples on the mountain, one of which is the main hall of the Virgin Mary, surrounded by Mawang temple, Niuwang temple, Wenchang temple, Yaowang temple, Baima general temple, Songzi Niangniang Temple, Guandi temple, Jiutian Sansheng temple, etc. It is said that the Tang and Song Dynasties began to hold a grand temple fair in Yaoshan every year on the Qingming Festival. Tomorrow, in 1623, the county magistrate Wang Youzou asked to record the relics of Yaoshan temple in the sacrificial ceremony. Since then, Yaoshan temple has enjoyed more incense and ceremonious sacrifices. At the same time, there are also activities of offering sacrifices to meet and send the gods.
The Notre Dame temple in Yaoshan has a long history. In Tang Dynasty, she was granted the title of Lady Lingying. There are a number of cliff inscriptions in the Tang Dynasty on the Northeast wall of the temple, the earliest of which was in the 15th year of Zhenyuan (799). In the second year of Tang Changqing (822), a large-scale temple was rebuilt for Madame Lingying of Gaofeng on the hillside.
In the second year of song Chongning (1103), it was once again called "Lady Lingying" by the royal family, and the ceremony of receiving and sending gods to the eleven shrines was formally standardized.
In 1164, the fourth year of Jin Dading, the ancestral temple was granted as lingxu temple.
In 1623, the county magistrate Wang Zuo applied to include Yaoshan temple in the sacrificial ceremony.
During the Qing Dynasty, the temple fair of Lady of Yao mountain was very prosperous. During the period of the Republic of China, jingwumu, yanghucheng and other heroes were famous all over the country, and the scale and grand occasion of temple fairs and sacrificial activities increased. During the cultural revolution after liberation, temples were devastated and temple fairs stopped. In 1992, temple fair activities resumed and temples were rebuilt.
