Xiama township is located in the southwest of Jiali County, in the middle of Najia highway, connecting Jiali town in the East, zangbi Township and Lindi Township in the west, Cuola Township in the north, cuoduo Township and aza town in the south. Township was established in 1959 and commune was established in 1971. In 1988, the former Xiama Township and Jiaao Township were merged into the new Xiama township. In 1996, Xiama Township, with a population of about 17000, had jurisdiction over 8 administrative villages, namely, samba, Xiama, wancang, jiarenza, tuokong, chagei, Qiqian and qiqiong; Duola Township, with a population of about 12000, had jurisdiction over 5 administrative villages, namely, borocang, cuanxi, Langqing, Duola and aroguo. In 2000, there were 1942 permanent residents in Xiama Township and 1391 permanent residents in DUOLA township (Wupu). In 2002, DUOLA township was abolished and merged into Xiama township. present situation
Xiama Township, formerly known as Sangba District, was withdrawn from the district in 1988 and renamed Xiama. In 2002, Duola and Xiama were merged into Xiama township. There are 13 administrative villages, 25 natural villages and 4406 people in the township (2017). The township has 14 party branches, 142 party members (including 13 women), 19 cadres and workers (including 1 secretary and 1 deputy secretary, 1 vice chairman of the National People's Congress, 1 member of the Party committee, 1 township head and 3 deputy Township heads). There is one temple, 41 monks and nuns, two primary schools, 558 students, more than 40 teaching staff, one health center and one animal defense station.
Resources and economy
The township is rich in mineral resources, mainly lead, zinc, silver, copper, molybdenum and so on. The total grassland area is 2988441.01 mu, of which 2139672.66 mu can be used. By the end of 2007, there were 36559 livestock in the township, including 27609 yaks, 528 horses and 8422 sheep. There were 10797 livestock in the township. The survival rate of young livestock reached 98%, the death rate of large livestock was controlled within 0.56%, and the per capita income of farmers and herdsmen reached 1979.38 yuan (including 1340 yuan of cash income).
