Chaer Township
Cha'er Township, Nanmulin County, Shigatse City, Tibet Autonomous Region is located in the south of the county, bordering tubujia Township in the East, Shigatse City across the river in the south, Emma in the West and Dana Township in the south. It covers an area of 275 square kilometers, with 4204 mu of arable land and a population of 357 households and 2517 people. The township government is located in Baiga village, 68 kilometers away from the county seat, with a construction area of 421 square meters.
"Cha'er" in Tibetan means "surname on behalf of name", also known as "chahu" and "charuo" in history. In 1961, the former Shigatse county was assigned to Nanmulin County, a township under the jurisdiction of tubuga district. In 1988, a separate township was established, with its jurisdiction unchanged. By 2000, there were six villagers' committees in Baiga, sending, Lalong, quelong, jiangga and qiareh. Chaer township is close to the Yarlung Zangbo River, with an average altitude of about 3700m, an average annual temperature of about 6 ℃, sunshine hours of about 2960 hours, an average annual rainfall of more than 425mm, a long frost free period and relatively concentrated rainy season. It is suitable for the growth of highland barley, winter wheat and other crops. Chaer township has relatively complete water conservancy facilities, with 19513 meters of canals and 4.40 mu of irrigated farmland, accounting for 99% of 4204 mu of cultivated land in the township. 1260 mu of grassland can be used. In 2000, the total output of grain and oil in the township was 2610845 Jin, the number of livestock in stock was 21905, the total income of rural economy was 3387227 yuan, and the per capita income was 1007.91 yuan. in 2000, there was a complete primary school in cha'er Township, with a building area of 1747 square meters and 415 students.
