Historical evolution
Xiangming is a Chinese place name. During the Longqing reign of the Ming Dynasty, when the twelve banners were designated, they were composed of Zhengdong, Bola (Yibang) and Yiwu, which were subordinate to the Xuanwei Department of Cheli. In the reign of Emperor Yongzheng of the Qing Dynasty, Cao Dangzhai conferred the title of President Tuqian and managed six tea mountains, including Yibang. In 1767, Cao Dangzhai was promoted to the rank of garrison by military merit. At the beginning of the Republic of China, the sixth administrative division was set up in Yiwu, and later transferred to Yibang. In the 16th year of the Republic of China, Xiangming county was set up to govern Yibang; in the 18th year of the Republic of China, Xiangming county was abolished and Yibang Tusi was merged into Puwen. In 1953, it was transferred to mengwang of Banna and set up an office in Yibang. At the beginning of 1958, jianxiangming district was set out from mengwang of Banna, which was subordinate to Yiwu county. Yiwu and Mengla are still Xiangming district after the merger. In 1969, it was renamed the commune, and the next year, it was moved to the riverside. In 1984, it was renamed Xiangming district. In 1988, the district was changed to Township, with jurisdiction over eight village offices including Yibang, mangong, Manlin, manzhuang, Xinfa, Anle, Longgu and Dahebian.
