Yanyuan town
Yanyuan town was separated from the original Luokan commune in 1984 to set up Yanyuan district. It was changed into a township in 1988 and was withdrawn from the township to build a town on November 30, 2012. Yanyuan town is located in the northwest of Zhenxiong County, 74 kilometers away from the county.
geographical position
Yanyuan town is located in the northwest of Zhenxiong County, connecting Luokan town in the East, Wude town and Niuchang town in the south, Wanchang town in the West and Luokan town in the north. It covers an area of 164 square kilometers. The whole terrain is high in the West and low in the East. Daliangzi, bojiyan, liaoye village, is 1762 meters above sea level, which is the highest point of the whole town. The exit of Yanxi River, yingpantou, Wenshui village, is 680 meters above sea level, which is the lowest point of the whole town. The government is located in Yanyuan village, 74 kilometers away from the county seat.

history
Yanyuan town had a history of boiling salt with natural brine in the old society. First there are several residual wells. The old man still vaguely remembers the scene of boiling salt. In the 1970s of the new society, the eighth provincial geological team once said that the mineral resources were drilled in Yanyuan Town, which made the ancient name of Yanyuan more mysterious and legendary. Before the reform of district and township system, Yanyuan was called Luokan District, and the other two village offices which combined with Yanyuan into one township were Wude and Niuchang.

The main specialties are chicken fir, Morchella, Gastrodia elata, Paris polyphylla, bamboo shoots, etc. the pleasant climate of Yanyuan town has created abundant resources of Yanyuan. In addition to the Chinese fir, which is called "the first in Yunnan and famous in the whole country", forestry: Yanyuan has a woodland mainly composed of Chinese fir, covering an area of 120000 mu. The forest coverage rate was 56.7%, ranking second in the county. By the end of 2006, the town had 18 cars, 25 tractors and 254 motorcycles. the main industries of the town are planting, breeding and forestry, which are mainly sold in the county.
