Nazhang town is located in the northeast of Yunnan Province, in the mountains of Wumeng Mountain system. The terrain is high in the southeast, and the central uplift inclines to the southwest. In the history of Nazhang, it was an area inhabited mainly by Yi people. The word "Nazhang" is the place name of Yi language, which means the Black Yi village at the foot of Changshan mountain. Among the 31 villager groups in the town, 15 villages are named in Yi language. But today, Nazhang has become a place with Han nationality as the main body and a small number of Yi and other nationalities. Historical evolution
During the reign of Emperor Yongzheng of the Qing Dynasty, Nazhang belonged to Anren Township in the east of Malong Prefecture, the first Township under the jurisdiction of Malong Prefecture. in 1913, Malong Prefecture was renamed Malong County, and the county was divided into six districts. from the 27th year of the Republic of China to October 1950, the county was divided into three districts and 48 townships. Quzong, fanglang and Nazhang belonged to the Second District, Yuewang. In 1954, the county was divided into three districts and 25 townships (towns). Quzong, fanglang and Nazhang were merged into fanglang Township, which still belongs to Yuewang district. In September 1958, the township (town) system was abolished, and the county was established into five people's communes, with jurisdiction over 62 administrative areas. In this year's "great leap forward" and "people's commune" movement, Nazhang successively established production teams, and joined with Malong County into Qujing county and Yuewang people's commune of Qujing county. In January 1988, Malong county carried out institutional reform. The original eight districts and one town were changed into five townships and four towns. The original township under the jurisdiction of the district was changed into a village office (Office).
