In 1984, it was called baihuahu township. In 1992, baihuahu Township and Yungui Township in Wuli district were merged into baihuahu township. In July 2017, Guizhou provincial government agreed to abolish baihuahu Township in guanshanhu district and establish baihuahu town. In 2018, Baihua Lake had 25420 registered residence population. As of June 2020, baihuahu town has jurisdiction over one community and 16 administrative villages.
