Wasu township was established in 1959, changed into a commune in 1974, and resumed in 1983. Waxu township is located in the southeast of the county, 150 kilometers away from the county. It covers an area of 1146.45 square kilometers and has a population of 4761 (2017). It has jurisdiction over six village committees in Ganbu village, reya village, hada village, Xiangqin village, shelong village and Duoshu village. Cattle, sheep and horses are the main animal husbandry in waxu township. Rich in Cordyceps, zhibeimu, rhubarb, notopterygium and other valuable medicinal materials.
