Sesu town is located in the northwest of Shiqu County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, bordering Qinghai Province in the west, 60 kilometers away from the county. It covers an area of 3116.63 square kilometers and has a population of 8386 (2017). Cattle, sheep and horses are the main animal husbandry. Sesu is named after Sesu temple, which is a Gelug Temple of Tibetan Buddhism. Formerly known as erdoma township.

Historical evolution

Erdoma township was established in 1958, the commune was changed in 1974, the township was restored in 1984, and watu township was incorporated in 1992. in 2012, with the approval of Sichuan Provincial People's government, Shiqu County abolished erdoma Township and established Sesu town. The town people's government was stationed in sedong village and governed the administrative region of erdoma township.
