Yulong township was set up in the early days of liberation, changed to Yulong commune in 1974, and restored to Yulong Township in 1984. Yulong township is located in the southeast of the county, 62 kilometers away from the county. It covers an area of 198.92 square kilometers and has a population of 2750 (2017). National Highway 317 and Yulong zhako cross the border. It has jurisdiction over four village committees: Banri, Yulong, Huoran and Rongqing. Yulong township is mainly engaged in animal husbandry, including yak, sheep, goat and horse.
