Yuanda town
Yuanda town belongs to Anyue County, Ziyang City, Sichuan Province. Located in the northwest of Anyue County, it is adjacent to Yueyang town in the East, Chengxi Township in the south, Longxi Township in Lezhi county in the West and Laifeng Township in the north. Its total area is 46.97 square kilometers.
As of June 2020, Yuanda town has one community and nine administrative villages. By the end of 2018, 22693 registered residence households in Yuanyang town. In 2011, the total financial revenue of Yuanda town was 8.609 million yuan, and the total industrial output value was 38 million yuan.
Historical evolution
Yuanyang township was merged with Dafo Township, and the name of the town was "Yuanyang" and "Da".
In 1949, Yuanda township was established.
In 1951, the 15th District Office of Anyue County was stationed here.
In 1957, the township changed into a commune.
In 1982, the commune was transformed into a township.
In 1992, it merged with Dafo Township and became Yuanda town.
On December 13, 2019, Sichuan Provincial People's Government approved the adjustment of administrative divisions of some towns in Ziyang City (cfgm [2019] No. 19): the administrative area of shaping village in Yuelai township was put under the jurisdiction of Yuanda town.

There are two tributaries in Yuanda Town, namely qicangxi River and Guiyang River, which meet Qili River respectively. The river in the territory belongs to the Yangtze River Basin, and the largest river is Yuanyang river.

Xuanmiao temple in Yuanda town is a state-level cultural relic protection unit. It is located on the Jisheng mountainside of Xuanmiao village, 20 kilometers north of the county. There are 1293 combined Taoist and Buddhist cliff sculptures and 4 stone tablets from Kaiyuan to Tianbao of the Tang Dynasty.
Dafosi temple is a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit. It is located on the high rock which is 16 kilometers northwest of the county and 200 meters northwest of huangjuepu. Huangjue Buddha in the temple is a cliff carving in the Kaiyuan period of Tang Dynasty. It is 16 meters high. The carving is exquisite, simple and elegant, with a serene manner, which makes people look and respect. The local people set the eighth day of the fourth month (the birthday of the Great Buddha) as the meeting time of the Great Buddha Temple.
Anyue Grottoes (Xuanmiao Temple)
Xuanmiao temple is located at the foot of Baiyang mountain in Yuanda Town, Anyue County. There are many statues in the original Qizhong hall, surrounded by luxuriant bamboo trees and towering ancient trees. Yunlong Academy was set up here in Qing Dynasty. Now the temple has been destroyed, only the flat topped boulders covered with cliff carvings in front of the temple have survived. The stone is mushroom shaped, 43 meters in circumference and 6 meters in height. Along the edge of the stone, there are 79 niches carved on cliffs of Tang Dynasty, 1293 statues, 4 Tang steles, 4 chronological inscriptions and 5 inscriptions by tourists of past dynasties. Most of the statues are Taoist or Buddhist niches with large scale.
Xuanmiao temple is a kind of cliff statue mainly composed of Taoist statues. It has a large scale and rich content. It is not only unique in Sichuan Province, but also rare in the whole country. Both the Taoist statues and the Buddhist statues are vivid, graceful, well arranged and harmonious. Among the 79 niches, there are 12 combined niches of Buddhism and Taoism. In the center of some niches is the Taoist old king, with standing statues of Buddha and Bodhisattva carved on both sides; in the center of some niches are sitting statues of Sakyamuni and the supreme old king, with Buddhist Bodhisattvas on the left and Taoist golden immortals on the right. This provides exact evidence for the mutual combination, infiltration and reference of Buddhism and Taoism in history, and is a representative object reflecting the mutual infiltration, reference and combination of Taoism and Buddhism after Jin Dynasty.
