Jinshijing town

Jinshijing Town, subordinate to Qianwei County, Leshan City, Sichuan Province, is located on the northeast edge of Qianwei County, 38.23 kilometers away from the county. It is adjacent to Luocheng Town, Xinsheng Township and Nanyang Township, and borders Renhe, Laolong and Lijia townships of Rong County in the East, South and North. It was once the seat of ancient yeguan County, with an area of 42.5 square kilometers. In 2018, the total population was 15719. By 2019, jinshijing town has one community and 14 administrative villages.

Evolution of organizational system

Jinshijing town was named after the discovery of a golden stone in a salt well in ancient times.

In 414, yeguan county was set up in the east of Qianwei county and the west of Rong County.

In 1949, it was called Jinjing township. In January 1950, Jinjing Township still used its old name.

In June 1951, it was divided into Jinjing Township, Wulian Township and Gonghe township.

In January 1956, the three townships merged into Jinjing township.

In October 1958, it belonged to Luocheng people's commune.

History and culture

There are many historic sites in jinshijing Town, and a large number of unearthed cultural relics are from the ancient Shu period, which proves that jinshijing has a history of at least 3000 years. According to Qianwei county annals, there are four historic sites in jinshijing, including Qianfo cliff, Bajiao tomb, Warring States tomb and flying rat cave.

Jinshijing town has the only surviving cliff inscriptions of Tang Dynasty in Qianwei County, more than 1100 years ago. 212 Buddha statues were seriously damaged by years of wind and rain erosion and man-made damage during the cultural revolution. There are many Avalokitesvara Bodhisattvas in the Buddha statues, some with one niche and some with several niches, including Ruyi Avalokitesvara, Shuiyue Avalokitesvara, Dishui Avalokitesvara, Yuyin Avalokitesvara, Jingping Avalokitesvara, Qianshou Avalokitesvara, etc. The reason why many Guanyin Bodhisattvas gathered in jinshijing is that it is said that the jinshijing was in chaos at that time, and the masses hoped that Guanyin Bodhisattvas could save their sufferings, so they built their statues to welcome the "coming down to earth". In 2006, Qianfo cliff was designated as a municipal cultural relics protection unit.

There are murals and characters in the Warring States tomb in jinshijing Town, and there is an iron ring on the top of the tomb. The cemetery covers an area of more than 20 mu, and the terrain is higher than the surrounding area. The unearthed pottery includes boxes, pots, bowls, bowls, pots, etc.; the bronze includes knives, swords, swords, spears, cauldrons, steamers, handrails, jins, chisels, tomahawks, swords, axes, etc., as well as iron chopsticks and decorations, especially the four copper seals. In 1985, a large number of precious cultural relics excavated from the tombs were transported to Sichuan Provincial Museum for collection and exhibition. On May 21, 1986, the Warring States tomb was designated as a municipal cultural relics protection unit. It is located in group 1 of Bolin village. According to the records of Qianwei county published in the Republic of China, "this cave is unfathomable. There is a river in neiyin, which is different in height, breadth and narrowness. Some people, such as Su, went to explore it, traveled for several miles, and the flying rat fluttered at the lamp, but did not return." According to the records of Qianwei County after liberation, "there are many karst caves in the county, and the flying mouse cave in jinshijing is one of the larger caves.".
