History of construction
In the Western Zhou Dynasty, the ancestors of Ba, Shu and Ju established the state of Xi in today's Zhaohua town.
During the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, it was the kingdom of Shu. The fifth Kaiming king of Shu still "granted his younger brother Hanzhong, named juhou", and took Jiameng as his capital.
In the fifth year of King Shenliang of Zhou Dynasty (316 BC), Qin destroyed the state of Ju and established Jiameng County here.

In 1986, Zhaohua District Office was withdrawn and Zhaohua town was transferred to Weizi District Office of Shizhong District.
In 1989, Weizi District Office was withdrawn and Yuanba district at county level was newly built. Zhaohua town belongs to Yuanba district.
In 1992, Dachao Township and Chaoyang Township were merged into Zhaohua town.
In 1995, Dachao and Chaoyang townships were designated.
In December 2019, Chaoyang Township and Dachao township will be put under the jurisdiction of Zhaohua town.
