Daya Township, belonging to Pengshui Miao and Tujia Autonomous County of Chongqing, is located in the southwest of Pengshui Miao and Tujia Autonomous County, connecting Wuchuan County and Daozhen Gelao and Miao Autonomous County of Guizhou Province in the East, South and West, facing Wulong district across the Furong River in the northwest and Runxi Township in the Northeast, with a total area of 68.56 square kilometers.
Before 1949, Daya Township belonged to Runxi township; in February 1984, it was changed from Daya commune to Daya township. By the end of 2018, the registered residence in Tai Ya township was 5705. As of June 2020, Daya township has four administrative villages and the Township People's government is located in dongguaxi.

In May 1958, Daya township was changed into Daya commune.
In February 1984, Daya commune was changed into Daya township.
