Shangan Township
Shangan Township, belonging to Pengshui Miao and Tujia Autonomous County of Chongqing, is located in the southeast of Pengshui Miao and Tujia Autonomous County, bordering on Anzi town in the East, gongtan town of Youyang County in the south, Hongdu town of Yanhe County in Guizhou Province in the west, Lujiao town in the north, 47 km away from the government of Pengshui Miao and Tujia Autonomous County, with a total area of 77.42 square kilometers.
Before the 20th year of the Republic of China (1931), Shangan township was Fengxi township; in January 1984, it was changed from Shangan commune to Shangan township. By the end of 2018, the registered residence of the township was 7299. As of June 2020, five administrative villages are under the jurisdiction of Shangan Township, and the Township People's government is located in shicaoba.
The main food crops in Shangan township are corn, rice and beans; the main animal husbandry is raising pigs, cattle, sheep and poultry; the main industry is individual processing industry. Shangan township is named for its friendly influence.
Before 1931, it was Fengxi township. In 1932, Fengxi township was renamed Shangan township.
In March 1953, Shi pen township was set up in Xi'an Shangan township.
In February 1956, the township of waste stone basin entered Shangan township.
In April 1958, after Xinhua township was merged into Shangan Township, it was changed into Shangan commune.
In May 1962, Shangan commune was divided into Shangan commune and Xinhua commune.
In January 1984, Shangan commune was changed into Shangan township.
