In the Qing Dynasty, Gantang township was established.
In 1932, Gantang township was established as Zhounan township.
In February 1951, Zhounan township was divided into Lianhu township.
In June 1953, it was divided into three townships of Tongmu, Huilong and Lianhu, and changed to the Tenth District.
In February 1956, Tongmu and Huilong townships were merged into Lianhu Township, which was restored to Yushan district.
In January 1958, it was changed into Lianhu commune.
