Yaoling Town, subordinate to Yunyang County of Chongqing City, is located in the south of Yunyang County, adjacent to Tujia township of Qingshui in the East, Lichuan City and Puzi township of Wanzhou in Hubei Province in the south, and Dibao township of Wanzhou District in the West. It is 60 kilometers away from the residence of Yunyang county government, with a total area of 53.8 square kilometers.
In the late Qing Dynasty, Yaoling town belonged to sijiaoli and qianliujia on the South Bank of Wanxian County; in 2015, Yaoling town was changed from Yaoling township to Yaoling town. By the end of 2018, the registered residence of Yao Ling town was 13625. As of June 2020, Yaoling town has one community and three administrative villages, and the town people's government is located in Daxing community.

History of construction
Yaoling town is named for its back to Qiyao mountain.
In the late Qing Dynasty, it belonged to sijiaoli and qianliujia on the South Bank of Wanxian county.
In November 1926, it belonged to Zhengzheng township of Wanxian county and Shuizhi township of Fengjie County.
In June 1944, the two townships of politics and water administration were transferred to Yunyang and merged to form Yaoling township.
In 1958, Yaoling township was changed into Yaoling commune.
In 1983, Yaoling commune was changed into Yaoling township.
In 2015, Yaoling township was changed from township to town.
