Gaoyan Town, subordinate to Chengkou County of Chongqing, is located in the southwest of Chengkou County, bordering Fuxing street in the East, miaoba town in the south, Pingba town in the west, and Bashan town in the north. It is 3.9 kilometers away from the residence of Chengkou county government, with a total area of 137.87 square kilometers.
During the period from Daoguang to Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to the seven guarantees and eight ranks first; in 2013, Gaoyan township was replaced by Gaoyan township. By the end of 2018, the registered residence of Gao Yan was 15964. As of June 2020, Gaoyan town has 2 communities and 12 administrative villages, and the town people's government is located in pangjiaping, Taishan community.

History of construction
During the period from Daoguang to Guangxu in Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Qibao Bajia.
In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), it belonged to the fumu Township regiment. In 1935, it was a joint forest protection. In 1940, it belonged to fumu township. In 1941, it belonged to Fumi town.
In March 1953, fumu town was divided into Taishan and Qinjia townships.
In February 1954, Taishan and Qinjia townships were divided into three small townships: Taishan, Gaoyan and Qiyan.
In November 1956, three small townships of Taishan, Gaoyan and Qiyan were merged into Gaoyan township.
In September 1958, Gaoyan township was changed into Gaoyan commune.
In October 1984, Gaoyan commune was changed into Gaoyan township.
In September 2004, Mingyue township was merged into Gaoyan township.
In 2013, Gaoyan township was changed from township to town.

The town people's Government is stationed in pangjiaping, Taishan community.
