Yuanmen Township

Yuanmen township is located in the southeast of Baisha County, Hainan Province, adjacent to Xishui Township in the East, Nankai Township in the west, Qiongzhong County in the south, and Baisha Town (now yakha town) in the north. The township government is located in Nanxun village near Baishi highway, 9.6km away from yakha town where the county government is located. The township governs 6 administrative villages, 38 natural villages and 42 villager groups, with a permanent population of 5924 by the end of 2017.

Yuanmen Township, located in the southeast of Baisha County, is the South Gate of Baisha County. It is adjacent to Xishui Township in the East, Nankai Township in the west, and Qiongzhong County in the south. Bang (XI) Nan (Xun) highway and Bai (SHA) Shi (Yun) highway in the west line of Haiyu Middle Road pass through here. It borders on Yacha town in the north, and the township government is 9 kilometers away from the county seat. It has jurisdiction over 1 neighborhood committee, 6 administrative villages, 42 villager groups, 1 central school, 1 health center and 1 township finance. By the end of 2017, the permanent resident population was 5924. It is a mountainous agricultural township gathering Li, Han, Miao and other nationalities. Evolution of organizational system

Yuanmen township was established in 1935. After liberation in September 1947, Yuanmen and Hongmao were subordinate to Baisha District 1. In 1955, junior commune was established. In June 1956, senior commune was established. In 1958, Baisha Township was merged with Baisha Township and Nankai township to form Baisha Township. In October of the same year, Baisha people's commune was established. In 1959, part of Yuanmen township was set up to form Yuanmen people's commune. The commune was located in Yinmei village and moved to its current site in 1971. It was changed to Yuanmen District in 1983. In 1987, Yuanmen township was replaced by Jianxiang township. In 1997, it covers an area of 198.4 square kilometers and has a population of 8000. It has jurisdiction over six village committees, namely Xiangmin, Hongqi, Nanxun, Yuanmen, wengcun and Hongmao.

The township has a warm and humid climate of south subtropical monsoon, with long sunshine and abundant rainfall. The average temperature is 21 ℃ - 23.4 ℃; the average sunshine hours is more than 2000 hours, the annual solar radiation is 114.3 kcal / cm2, the annual rainfall is 1800-2400mm, the extreme maximum temperature is 41 ℃, and the extreme minimum temperature is 2.1 ℃.

The total land area of the township is 275537 mu, 44.9 mu per capita. The soil mostly belongs to red loam, red soil and mountain yellow soil. The cultivated land area is 9753 mu, including 4969 mu of paddy field, 4516 mu of dry land and 2142 mu of water. The main rivers are nannai River, Nanchuan River, wengcun River, Minxiang River and Nanxi River, which are tributaries of Nandu River.

The main minerals in the territory are gold, lead-zinc, crystal and limestone. The mineral has high grade, large reserves and high mining value. Among them, limestone is the main raw material of the two cement plants in China with high storage.

Hydropower resources

There are many reservoirs in Yuanmen Township, with abundant water resources and sufficient water and electricity.
