Mao Daoxiang
Maodao Township, subordinate to Wuzhishan City, Hainan Province, is located in the southwest of Wuzhishan City, adjacent to Chongshan town in the East, Changhao Township in the south, Ledong County in the West and Fanyang town in the north. The Township People's government is 16 kilometers away from Wuzhishan City. The total administrative area is 113.1 square kilometers.
In April 1950, maodao township was established under the third district of Baoting county. In July 2001, Tongshi city was renamed Wuzhishan City, and maodao township was subordinate to Wuzhishan City. By the end of 2018, the population of Mao Dao Township registered residence was 5432. By June 2020, maodao township has four administrative villages: maodao village, Maozhi village, maozhuo village and Hongyun village. The Township People's government is stationed in Maozhi village.
By the end of 2018, maodao Township had three comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters.
Historical evolution
Maodao township was located in the hinterland of mountainous areas, and there was no specific administrative region before the Republic of China.
In April 1950, maodao township was established under the third district of Baoting county.
In 1953, maodao, Maozhi and maozhuo were set up, which were subordinate to the third district of Baoting county.
In December 1956, Maozhi township was merged into maodao township. In March 1958, maodao and maozhuo were merged and named maodao township. The township government was stationed in Maozhi village.
In September 1958, 11 communes including maodao Township and Changhao Township and state-owned Changhao farm merged to form Hongxing commune.
In March 1959, Hongxing commune was incorporated into Hongqi commune of Tongshi Town, which was subordinate to Ya county.
In November 1959, Hongqi commune of Tongshi town was put under the jurisdiction of Baoting county.
In May 1961, maodao commune was set up from Hongqi commune.
In May 1983, maodao commune was renamed maodao district office.
On June 12, 1986, maodao District Office was put under the jurisdiction of Tongshi city.
In January 1987, maodao District Office was renamed maodao township.
In July 2001, Tongshi city was renamed Wuzhishan City, and maodao township was subordinate to Wuzhishan City.
