Bailong Street
Bailong street, subordinate to Meilan District, Haikou City, Hainan Province, is located in the north of Meilan District, adjacent to Nandujiang in the East, Guoxing street in the south, Heping South Street in the West and Baisha street in the north. The maximum distance between East and West is 3.34 km, and the maximum distance between North and south is 2.09 km, with a total area of 7 square kilometers. Among them, land area is 6.5 square kilometers, accounting for 92.86%; water area is 0.5 square kilometers, accounting for 7.14%.
In April 1987, the district was removed and the township was built. In July 2001, Bailong township was abolished and Bailong street was established. On October 16, 2002, Zhendong district was abolished and Meilan District was established. Bailong street was under the jurisdiction of Meilan District. At the end of 2011, the total population of Bailong sub district was 64842, including 49763 urban permanent residents, with an urbanization rate of 59.82%. As of June 2020, Bailong street has jurisdiction over 6 communities, and its sub district office is located at No. 25, Bailong South Road, Meishe community.
In 2011, Bailong Street's total financial revenue was 90 million yuan, an increase of 24.7% over the previous year. 37 million yuan in business tax and 36 million yuan in value-added tax, up 12.4% and 2.9% respectively over the previous year.
Historical evolution
In 1940, it belonged to the first district of Qiongshan county.
In December 1950, Bailong was separated from Baisha Township and established Bailong Township, which was under the jurisdiction of the third district of Haikou City.
In July 1951, the suburb of Haikou City was established, and Bailong township was subordinate to the suburb.
In August 1958, the three townships of Bailong Township, Xinbu Township and Xiuying Township in Haikou City were abolished and the Hongqi commune of Haikou City was established.
In December 1968, Hailian commune was merged into Hongqi commune.
In August 1971, the Hailian commune was restored.
In February 1981, Hongqi commune was renamed Bailong commune.
In September 1983, Bailong commune was abolished and Bailong District Office was established.
In April 1987, the district was removed and the township was built.
In July 2001, Bailong township was abolished and Bailong street was established.
On October 16, 2002, Zhendong district was abolished and Meilan District was established. Bailong street was under the jurisdiction of Meilan District.
