Economic overview
Agriculture
It mainly produces rice, cassava, soybean, peanut, corn, vegetables and so on. Of the 1566.7 hectares of cultivated land in the town, 1200 hectares are paddy fields, which are mainly distributed on both sides of the two rivers in the town and the mountain streams in each village. Floods often occur, and the yield per mu was less than 150 kg before liberation. After the liberation of China, we vigorously carried out the construction of farmland water conservancy, built five large and small canals, such as Liuxiu, Daneng and Henggang, built a number of water conservancy facilities, such as small reservoirs, small mountain ponds, small PI dams and small aqueducts, and transformed the two curved rivers of Xinpo and liuluo, increased the area of artificial irrigation, reduced the area of flooded and washed farmland, and basically realized the goal of ensuring the income from drought and flood. In 1985, the rice planting area in the township was 2440.82 hectares, with an average yield of 274 kg per mu. Since the 1990s, we have continued to invest in repairing and strengthening water conservancy projects that are out of repair, and have built 120 permanent "sanmianguang" canals, cement dams, irrigation aqueducts and other small water conservancy projects. We have continuously expanded the irrigation area, and 95% of the paddy fields in the town have achieved water and income conservation. At the same time, efforts should be made to popularize improved hybrid rice varieties, dry rice seedling raising in plastic trays, rice seedling throwing, and to implement advanced scientific farming technologies such as mechanical farming, scientific fertilization, scientific water use, and scientific management. We have trained and trained a number of agricultural science and technology personnel and key agricultural technology households, guided and led the farmers to carry out scientific farming, and grain production has steadily increased year by year. In 2008, the town's rice planting area was 2307.55 hectares, with an average yield of 315 kg per mu, and the total yield reached 10.9 million kg, increasing production and harvest in successive years. There are 270 kilograms of grain per capita. The total output value of agriculture reached 160 million yuan.
Forestry
In 1958, the state-owned Liuwanshan forest farm was established in the county, which became the main development base of timber, especially Chinese fir timber forest in the county. Before the 1980s, farmers mainly planted fir timber forest, and also planted some star anise, neem, bamboo and other economic forests. In 1981, the total area of forest land in the commune was 12006 hectares, and the main forest by-products were star anise, cinnamon, pine resin, etc. After the implementation of reform and opening up, we will implement afforestation by controlling and opening up mountains, eliminate barren mountains suitable for afforestation, and simultaneously build new forests and manage the original forests. In 1993, afforestation was up to the standard, and in 1995, afforestation was up to the standard. In 2005, there were 14007 hectares of forest in the town, including 7337 hectares of timber forest, 6336.5 hectares of economic forest and 333.5 hectares of other forests; the forest volume was 426000 cubic meters, and the forest coverage rate was 74%. After 2007, actively organize and mobilize the masses to plant fast-growing eucalyptus and other high-yield forests and longan, sour plum, bamboo shoots and other economic forest fruit crops, so as to realize the base and commercialization of forest fruit production. In 2008, the town planted 1467.4 hectares of fast-growing eucalyptus, 5869.6 hectares of star anise and Yugui, 266.8 hectares of bamboo shoots and 400.2 hectares of other fruit forests, and built 12 bases of star anise, Yugui, bamboo shoots, eucalyptus and fruit trees. The yield of fresh star anise in that year was 12 million kg. The output value of forestry in the town reached 70 million yuan.
Animal Husbandry
Before liberation, the main farming industry was raising pigs, chickens, ducks and cattle for their own consumption. After liberation, farmers generally raised pigs, chickens, ducks and cattle, while a small number of people raised geese and goats. In 1970, great efforts were made to develop the breeding industry, with collective pig breeding as the main mode. In the same year, 21000 pigs and 8600 cattle were raised. After the implementation of the production responsibility system in the 1980s, we made great efforts to develop specialized breeding households, made full use of the advantages of abundant cassava resources and sufficient feed, mobilized the masses to raise pigs and chickens, and increased income channels. Since then, the number of large breeding households has been increasing, and the economic benefits have been significantly improved. Since 2005, the characteristic breeding industry of mountain chicken has sprung up, and the scale of breeding has been expanding. In 2006, there were 42 chicken farms in the whole town, with a breeding capacity of 650000. In 2008, there were 18234 live pigs and 35145 live poultry in the town, and 420000 live pigs and 680000 live poultry in the town.
Township Enterprises
During the period of people's commune, township enterprises mainly engaged in brick and tile burning, house building, sugar pressing, wine making, processing of iron, wooden farm tools, furniture, bamboo weaving, tea and agricultural and sideline products processing, etc. After 1979, the original enterprises owned by the collectives of cooperatives and teams were reformed and contracted, so as to activate the vitality of township enterprises and expand and develop their scale. In 1984, Liuzhu township enterprise office was established to be responsible for the management, service and guidance of township enterprises. In 1985, township run enterprises mainly included nursery, wood factory, wood trading company, water and electricity company, local paper factory, furniture factory, passenger transport company, etc. village team enterprises included 106 enterprises including wood and wood processing, tea factory, paper factory, distillery, drugstore, shop, forest farm, mangbian, etc., with 550 employees. The total income of township enterprises was 1.66 million yuan. In 1990, there were 13 enterprises in the township
