Huixian town

Huixian Town, a town under the jurisdiction of Lingui District, Guilin City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is 29 kilometers away from Guilin city. It borders Yanshan District of Guilin City in the East, connects Liutang town in the south, Luojin town of Yongfu County in the West and Sitang town in the north, with an area of 175.4 square kilometers. Qing Dynasty, belongs to Lingui county. In July 1997, Huixian township was changed into Huixian town. By the end of 2018, Huixian town has a total population of 56000 and a permanent resident population of 11000. By the end of 2019, it has jurisdiction over 16 administrative villages and the town government is stationed in huixianwei.

In 2017, the total agricultural output value of Huixian town was 646 million yuan, and in 2018, the total industrial output value was 3.45 billion yuan.

History of construction

Qing Dynasty, belongs to Lingui county.

In 1933, Huixian district was established as Guilin County; in 1940, Huixian, Aishan and Mamian townships were established as Lingui county.

In December 1949, Huixian district was established.

In June 1954, Huixian district was changed into the Fifth District.

In August 1958, Huixian commune was established.

In March 1959, Huixian commune was divided into Huixian commune, Aishan commune and Mamian commune.

In August 1962, Huixian, Aishan and Mamian communes were transformed into Huixian district.

In April 1966, Huixian district was changed to Huixian commune; in September of the same year, Huixian commune was changed to Hongqi commune.

In October 1972, Hongqi commune was renamed Huixian commune.

In October 1984, Huixian commune was changed into Huixian township.

In 1990, 16 village offices were set up in Huixian township.

In July 1997, Huixian township was changed into Huixian town.

Huixian wetland

Huixian wetland AAA scenic spot, located in Huixian Town, was officially listed as the National Wetland Park pilot by the State Forestry Administration in 2012, and named "Guangxi Guilin Huixian Karst National Wetland Park". The ground elevation is between 147-292 meters, and the total area of the wetland park is 586.75 hectares, of which 493.59 hectares is the wetland area, with a wetland rate of 84.12%, mainly including the Wetland Park centered on Mudong lake Lakes, swamps, wetlands, and wetlands such as Longtoushan, fenshuitang, Shizishan, fengjiayutang, fenshuitang and xiangsijiang were excavated from the ancient Guiliu canal in the period of Empress Wu Zetian of Tang Dynasty, involving Mudong, Xinmin, Shanwei, Siyi and Wenquan in Huixian town.

Ancient Guilin Liuzhou canal

Ancient Guiliu canal (also known as Douhe): located in Huixian Town, opposite to Xing'an Lingqu (East Canal), it is also called West Canal. It was excavated in 620, the first year of Changshou in Tang Dynasty, with a total length of 15 kilometers. There are 24 sluice gates built along the river, all of which are built with stone. The canal starts from the water diversion pond in the north corner of huixianwei, which covers an area of about 30 mu. It flows to shemenling, Yanshan Town, Guilin City in the East, connects with Liangfeng River and flows into Lijiang River; it flows through Dawan Dasu bridge in Sitang in the West and flows into xiahuiliu river of Luoqing river.

Bai Chongxi's former residence

Bai Chongxi's former residence, located in Shanwei village, Huixian Town, was built in 1928 and completed in 1931. It covers an area of about 1000 square meters and consists of the main building and the attached courtyard. During the Anti Japanese War, Bai Chongxi visited his mother several times and celebrated her 90th birthday. Chiang Kai Shek also visited Bai's mother in his former residence.

Local specialties

Huixian specialty Jiucun salted duck has a history of more than 200 years. It is made from old duck, rice duck and grass seed duck by the process of opening, special recipe curing, plate, shaping and drying. The salted duck can be directly steamed, or steamed with chili, garlic sprouts, winter bamboo shoots and so on. It tastes delicious, oily but not greasy.
