Yongfu Temple

Yongfu temple, Jizhou Town, Raoping County, Chaozhou, Guangdong Province, was founded in Song Dynasty (960-1279). It was relocated and rebuilt from 1991 to 2001. It was revived by Abbot Shi Guanghui, who raised funds and invested 35 million yuan. In 1993, it was registered and opened by the county Religious Bureau. It is one of the great temples in Chaoshan and a major tourist spot in Sanbaimen port area.

The temple was founded in the Song Dynasty and was built from longfu temple on the other side of Haishan island. Originally located in the southwest of Yingzhou Island (today's Jizhou town), it has one hall and two rooms, only about 400 square meters. During the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty (1736-1795), it was expanded to about 1500 square meters by local people. It was divided into a front seat, a main hall, a back garden, and corridors on both sides. The front seat was for Xietian God, the main hall was for Sakyamuni Buddha, Ananda on both sides, and the venerable Kaya. The eighteen Arhats were divided into two rows. There are also dizang Pavilion, Guanyin Pavilion and Sangha.

It was rebuilt during the reign of Guangxu (1875-1908). At the end of the Qing Dynasty, there were two land and water shrines during the Anti Japanese war. In 1937, the temple also served as the central elementary school in the Fifth District of Raoping County. In 1950, he continued to work as a primary school, and later changed to the Central Primary School of Jizhou town. When the Cultural Revolution was in turmoil, the temple was completely converted into school buildings.

In 1976, when the "Cultural Revolution" ended, the extreme left policy ended and everything revived. The old man of Weizhou asked master Shi Guanghui of Lingshan temple to take charge of the reconstruction. With the consent of the leading departments at all levels, it was reported to the provincial Religious Bureau and approved to rebuild the ancient temple on March 27, 1991.

From the foundation laying in September 1991 to October 2001, most of the temple projects were completed after ten years. This large-scale jungle temple, with a brand-new appearance, stands on the south foot of Hutou mountain, which is particularly spectacular and eye-catching. It covers an area of more than 20000 square meters, with a construction area of more than 10000 square meters and a total investment of 35 million yuan. It has become one of the largest monasteries in Chaoshan, adding a large tourist spot to Chaozhou's Sanbaimen port area and promoting the construction of two local civilizations.
