Guzhu town
Guzhu Town, the entrusted town of Jiangdong new district in Heyuan, Guangdong Province, is located in the south of Jiangdong new district and the East Bank of the middle reaches of Dongjiang River, at the intersection of two cities, four counties and eight towns. It faces Yuancheng District and BOLUO County across the river in the west, Linjiang town in the north, Haoyi town and Luzhou town in Zijin County in the south, and Yirong town and Fengan town in Zijin County in the East. The total population is 67750 people (in 2017), under the jurisdiction of 18 village committees and 1 neighborhood committee, the total area of the town is 278.1 square kilometers, and the cultivated land area is 35000 mu.
On May 20, 2014, the Jiangdong new district of Heyuan City was established, bringing Guzhu town into the planning scope. Most of Guzhu town belongs to the ecological development zone of Jiangdong new district, which undertakes the important task of capacity expansion and quality improvement of Heyuan downtown. The Hezi Expressway and the Hehui Shan Expressway under study pass through Guzhu.

Topography and geology
Guzhu town is a low mountain and hilly area. Gongwangding, at the junction of Liukeng village and feng'an in the south of the town, is the highest peak, with an altitude of 517m. The bedrock of the hill is mostly red sandstone with good engineering geological conditions. The seismic fissure in this area is 6 degrees.
Climate and hydrology
Guzhu town is located in low latitude, climate belongs to south subtropical marine climate, solar radiation energy is rich, frost free period is more than 300 days. The dominant wind direction is north wind and northeast wind in winter and spring, south wind in summer and autumn, followed by southeast wind and southwest wind. The annual average temperature is 20.5 ℃, and the annual average rainfall is more than 2000mm.
The ancient bamboo has developed water system and numerous rivers and lakes. Dongjiang River, Yirong River and Qiuxiang river not only provide the town with abundant water resources and convenience for shipping and irrigation, but also bring the threat of waterlogging and flood. Yirong river is a mountainous river, the lower reaches of which are curved. In case of heavy rain, the towns will be affected by flood. As of 2011, the throughput of guzhugang was 1 million tons.

The origin of the name
The ancient bamboo, formerly known as kuzhu, got its name because a large number of kuzhu grew on the Bank of Dongjiang River at that time.
The evolution of subordination
Guzhu belonged to kuzhu sect (about) of kuandedu in Ming and Qing Dynasties. It belonged to Guzhu township of the second district since 1929. Guzhu town was set up in 1945. It belonged to Gubai district and the third district at the beginning of the people's Republic of China. It was set up in May 1952. It belonged to Guzhu and Pingdu Township respectively in December 1957. Guzhu commune was established in October 1958. Guzhuchaling farm was set up in April 1961 (it was merged into Guzhu commune in March 1963). Guzhu commune was established in 1983 In 1987, Guzhu town was restored.

Development
In 1992, with the approval of the state and the provincial people's government, Guzhu established the "Guangdong Zijin Economic Development Zone" with a planned development area of 10 square kilometers. The built-up area is 3.8 square kilometers and 13 enterprises have settled down. An industrial system with glasses, optics, plastics, hardware, textile, electronics and other industries has gradually formed.
In 2011, the industrial and agricultural output value of the whole town was 1.942 billion yuan; the total agricultural output value was 367 million yuan; the fiscal revenue at the same level was 20.58 million yuan, the per capita net income of farmers was 7062 yuan, and the throughput of guzhugang was about 1 million tons.

In 2014, Guzhu town had one complete middle school, one junior middle school, 225 teaching staff and 2288 students; four standardized primary schools, 13 teaching sites, 248 teaching staff and 4538 students. Through the activity of creating "strong education town in Guangdong Province", preschool education, compulsory education and general higher education have been consolidated and improved.

Guzhu town adheres to the strategy of "relying on industry" and is committed to building a national professional town of glasses production. In 2005, the Ministry of land and resources of the people's Republic of China invested 25.03 million yuan in land consolidation of 14250 mu of farmland in Pingdu, kongpu, Yase and Liudong villages in Guzhu town to improve farming conditions and facilitate intensive management. It invested 420000 yuan to repair 2 reservoirs and water conservancy facilities. The industrial structure was adjusted and optimized. In kongpu village, 510 mu of wax gourd was planted throughout the year, with an estimated annual output value of more than 4 million yuan. Due to the "6.20" catastrophic flood disaster, the actual output value of wax gourd was more than 1 million yuan. Shuangkeng village develops mountain chicken; Shuidong, Chaling, Siwei, Xinwei and Shanglian villages consolidate and develop litchi and longan; Pingdu village grows Dahong watermelon; liaokeng, Shangdong, Xiadong, Liukeng and Lanxi develop fast-growing and high-yield forest; the pattern of "several products in one town" develops steadily. Guzhu town Zijin Economic Development Zone, Guangdong Province, was established in October 1992 with the approval of the state and provincial government, with an area of 10 square kilometers.
