Tanjiang Town, subordinate to Fengshun County, Meizhou City, Guangdong Province, is located in the middle reaches of Hanjiang River. It borders Xintang Town, Raoping County, Chaozhou City in the East, Shatian Town, Fengshun County in the west, Liuhuang Town, Fengshun County and Fenghuang Town, Chaoan District, Chaozhou City in the Southeast, and Zhourui, Gaopi and Taoyuan towns, Dapu County in the north. The total area of the town is 271 square kilometers. In late 2018, the population of Tan Jiang registered residence was 31721. As of June 2020, Tanjiang town has jurisdiction over one community and 18 administrative villages.
Tanjiang town is not only the only town inhabited by ethnic minorities (She nationality in Fengping Village) in Meizhou City, but also a famous old revolutionary area. It has a history of more than 100 years. The provincial highway s227 on the East Bank of Hanjiang River (upgraded from the original county highway x072) and the highway s233 from Liuhuang bridge on the West Bank of Hanjiang River to Gaopi Guye provincial highway in Dapu meet with the county highway x027. The Meizhou Tanjiang River Bridge forms an H-shaped transportation network and integrates into the hub center. It is an important political, economic and cultural town in the northern mountainous area of Fengshun County, connecting Liuhuang, Shatian, Xiaosheng, etc It is the transportation hub and business center of the town and its neighboring towns in Tai Po County.

Historical evolution
In 1979, there were only four streets and more than 20 shops in Weishi.
In 1981, Jindi street and Jinxin street were built on the basis of the old streets.
In December 1983, Shaxiao people's commune was established and the district office was established.
