Duozhu town

Duozhu Town, belonging to Huidong County, Huizhou City, Guangdong Province, is located in the middle of Huidong County. It is a big agricultural town in mountainous area and a provincial central town. The terrain is mainly hilly and belongs to subtropical climate. Xizhijiang river passes through it. Historical evolution

Former songkeng town

The former songkeng town was called Songxi in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasty, and was renamed songkeng because of the pine forest.

In December 1971, songkeng commune was separated from andon commune.

In 1983, it was divided into districts.

In 1987, the township was set up.

In 1994, it was changed into a town.

In April 2006, it was withdrawn and merged into Duozhu town.

In December 2014, huangsiyang village of Duozhu town was included in the list of Chinese traditional villages.

Major events

Duozhu is an old revolutionary base area. In October 1900, Zheng Shiliang led an armed uprising in Sanzhoutian, Huizhou under the command of Sun Yat Sen. on October 26 of the same year, he conquered Duozhu. When the uprising army retreated, it was attacked by the Qing army. Japanese friend Yamada Liangzheng got lost in the battle and was captured and killed in xiaximen, Duozhu polder. Sun Yat Sen once wrote that Yamada Liangzheng was "the first foreign righteous man to be the victim of the Republic of China". In October 1923, the farmers' Association of Duozhu district was established. It is located in baidutian and has more than 1000 members. In the spring of 1925, a peasant armed association was organized and a peasant self-defense army was set up to carry out the agrarian revolution and armed struggle. In October of the same year, Chiang Kai Shek led the National Revolutionary Army in the second eastern expedition. On the way to Duozhu, the District farmers' Association and the eastern expedition army held a civil military Association on the square of hongshengye temple at the lip corner of Duozhu Weitang. Chiang Kai Shek made a speech at the meeting, and his Soviet friends, general Galen and Dr. Borodin, also attended the meeting. In March 1947, Huizi people's self-defense brigade was established in hekeng of the town. It was later reorganized into the fourth regiment of Jiangnan detachment, and then the first Dongjiang detachment of Guangdong Jiangxi Hunan border column of the Chinese people's Liberation Army. It moved to Huidong, Zijin, Wuhua and Haifeng.
