Shuzai town
Shuzai Town, belonging to Dianbai District, Maoming City, Guangdong Province, is located in the southeast of the coastal area of Dianbai District, bordering Diancheng Town, the central town of Dianbai District in the East, and facing Bohe Town, one of the four major fishing ports in Guangdong Province in the south. In the west, it is 30km away from Shuidong Town, 50km away from Maoming railway station, and national highway 325 crosses the whole area. The town has a total area of 65.92 square kilometers (2017), 13 village committees and 1 neighborhood committee, and a total population of 50477 people (2017).
General situation of villages and towns
The town is close to the mountain and the sea. It is rich in resources, advantageous in location, and convenient in land and water transportation. With a 10 km long coastline, there are two natural fishing docks, Haifeng and jingshipyard. The seafood is abundant. It can use more than 20000 mu of beach, and has developed more than 10000 mu of cultured fish, shrimp and shellfish. There are abundant reserves of high-quality granite, crystal stone, clay and mineral water in the northern mountainous area, and the development prospect is attractive. Ten thousand mu of early maturing high-quality litchi and longan have been put into production one after another. The land in the central plain is fertile, mainly including rice, peanuts and beiyuncai. Among them, more than 2300 mu farmland in Datang and xinpidong has been developed into a national agricultural demonstration base. The town's 21 kilometers of rural roads have basically been hard bottomed.
The town has made full use of its resource advantages, vigorously optimized the investment environment, accelerated the development of private enterprises, and built a 6 km long belt industrial park along national highway 325. There are three industrial zones in Shanghai, Xincheng and xiahaiwei. It has formed a characteristic economy dominated by spices, fine chemicals, aquatic products processing and compound fertilizer production. The total amount of spices produced in the town has accounted for the total market share of spices in the district 3%.
Historical evolution
Shuzai town was located in Lianjiang county (Baoning county) in the Sui and Tang Dynasties. It was merged into Dianbai County in the fifth year of Kaibao in the Song Dynasty (972), and was subordinate to Baoning township. In Yuan and Ming Dynasties, Wushi, Nanhai, Denglou, Denggao, Shuangjian, Pinglan and other small townships in the second map of xiabaoning township. In the Qing Dynasty, there were shiaobao, xinpobao, wushibao, shaloubao and shuangjianbao under the jurisdiction of Dianshi; in the reign of Guangxu, pingshibao was added to wushibao. In the folk time, it was the small townships of Denglou, Wenfeng, shuzai and Shanwei in Xinpo and dengwenshushan townships of the first district; in 1941, it was Baoning township (xinshuixia renamed) and Shuzi township (dengwenshushan renamed). In November 1949, it was Wenfeng, Shanmei and dengloudeng in Wenquan Township, Shuzi District II. In January 1957, it was Wenfeng, shuzai, Xinpo and other middle townships; at the end of the year, it was Xinpo in Diancheng and Wenfeng, Shanmei, Denglou and other small townships in Magang. In September 1958, shuzai people's commune was established under the jurisdiction of Hongxing people's commune. It has 11 brigades and 216 aquaculture brigades, including Chashan, Xinpo, Datang, Wushi, Pinglan, Jiangshan, Shanmei, Denglou, Haifeng, Wenfeng and shuzai. In September 1983, shuzai people's commune was removed and shuzai district was established, with 12 townships under its jurisdiction. In May 1987, the district was withdrawn and shuzai town was established. It has jurisdiction over one neighborhood committee, 12 villagers' committees, 12 management areas and 107 natural villages. In April 2014, the former Dianbai County was transferred to Dianbai District of Maoming City.
Economic situation
The economy of shuzai town is dominated by agriculture, fishery and light industry.
The total area of cultivated land is 18438 mu. There are 1544 Mu paddy field and 2990 Mu slope land. The total grain output is 8855 tons, and the total agricultural output value is 25.58 million yuan.
In terms of fishery, there are 184 fishing boats, 3169 kilowatts, and the annual output of fish is 1967 tons. Shrimp, squid crab, oyster, mud clam, blood clam and economic fish are the main products of mariculture. The products are exported to Hong Kong, Macao and even Japan.
In terms of industry, there are 396 township enterprises and a total of 6144 employees. The annual total output value is 61.5 million yuan.

As of October 2008, there were 2 junior middle schools with 22 classes and 1064 students, and 15 primary schools with 169 classes and 6106 students. There is a health center with 25 medical staff. There are 18 private clinics, 14 drugstores and 28 doctors.
