Magang town is located in the northwest of Kaiping City. It is adjacent to Longsheng in the north, Tangkou in the south, Dasha town and Enping City in the west, and Cangcheng in the East. It is 30km away from Sanbu in the urban area. Most of the whole line is first-class cement highway. It takes only half an hour to drive from Sanbu to Magang. It has a total area of 92.3 square kilometers, including 46000 mu of arable land and 28000 mu of hillside land. It has jurisdiction over 27 village committees, 202 natural villages and two community neighborhood committees. It has a population of 52000, 13370 households and more than 37000 overseas Chinese and compatriots living in Hong Kong and Macao. Magang town is a semi hilly area, fertile land, rich in rice, fruit and three birds, pond fish and so on.

In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to the Second District of Kaiping county from 1912 to 1949, the first district of Kaiping County in 1950, and the eleventh District of Kaiping County in 1952. Cangcheng commune was established in 1958 with Shatang, Cangcheng, and Zhangqiao (Longsheng) townships, Magang commune was established in 1960, the District was changed in 1983, and the district was withdrawn to build a town in 1987. Infrastructure

Magang town has superior geographical location and convenient transportation. It can lead to the Pearl River Delta and other places via 325 national highway, and Zhaoqing and other places via Yaoguang trunk line. There are cement roads in every village in the town, forming a crisscross transportation network. Dashahe reservoir, one of the large reservoirs in Guangdong Province, is located in the upper reaches of Magang. It has invested more than 4.6 million yuan to build the Magang water supply plant, and the main pipeline runs through the whole town, providing very favorable conditions for the industrial and agricultural production and domestic water use of Magang town.
