Lianhua town

Lianhua town is located in the northeast of Chenghai District, Shantou City, with Lianhua Mountain in the north, Hanjiang River in the south, Dongli town in the East and Chaozhou Tiepu in the West. It is the "Golden Triangle" of Chaozhou, Chenghai and Raoping. It covers a total area of 19.91 square kilometers, governs 19 administrative villages, and has a total population of 28700 (2018).

Lianhua town is one of the famous hometown of overseas Chinese in Chaoshan. It is also a revolutionary base town during the "second domestic revolutionary war". It is also a patriotic education base and art sketch base in Chaozhou. In 2008, it was rated as "characteristic tourism town of Guangdong Province".

History of construction

Today's Lianhua town has evolved from the original 15 townships. In the second year of Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty (1852 AD), there were 15 natural villages in this area, which formed "Hui Xiang", hence the name "fifteen Xiang".

In 1940, fifteen townships were called Longdu Xiabao district.

In 1943, it was divided into "Longcheng town" and "Congxin town".

In 1945, "Longcheng rural" and "Congxin township" merged into "Longxin township".

In 1946, it was renamed "fifteen townships". Historically, fifteen townships were under the jurisdiction of Raoping County. Since 1949, they were under the jurisdiction of Chenghai county and Longdu district.

In 1951, fifteen townships were divided into Subei District of Chenghai county.

In 1954, the natural villages of the fifteen townships were merged into five townships (Longxi, bidongmei, Longbei, Shangzhong and Longxi townships).

In 1955, the five townships were merged into two townships (Shanglong and Xialong). In 1956, the rural areas were cooperative, and the natural townships were established into junior and senior cooperatives.

In 1957, the people's Government of fifteen townships was merged and established. Later, it merged with Dongli and Yanhong townships to form the people's Government of Subei township.

In 1958, the people's Government of Subei township was transformed into Subei people's commune, and fifteen townships were under its management.

In 1961, fifteen townships were set up from Subei people's commune.

In January 1983, the people's commune of Shiwu township was transformed into the people's commune of Shiwu Township, which has jurisdiction over nine townships, including Longnan, Longbei, Longhua, Dongguang, Xixi, Nantang, Nanhua, xiachangning and bidongmei.

In 1986, the people's commune of Shiwu township was transformed into the people's Government of Shiwu Township, which has jurisdiction over one neighborhood committee and 18 village committees, namely Longnan neighborhood committee, as well as Longbei, Longhua, Dongguang, Xixi, Meilong, Bisha, Dongpu, Xipu, xinlou (including xinlou and shangchangning natural villages), xiachangning, shangdun, Houpu, Nantang, Yadao, Linpan, Sanzhou, Nanhua and Xiazhai village committees.

In 1995, the Township People's Government of the tenth five year plan was renamed Lianhua Town People's government. The town people's government has jurisdiction over 19 administrative villages, including Longnan, Longbei, Longhua, Dongguang, Xixi, Meilong, Bisha, Dongpu, Xipu, xinlou, xiachangning, shangdun, Houpu, Nantang, Yadao, Linpan, Sanzhou, Nanhua, Xiazhai, and is located in Longnan village.

Provincial Highway 335 runs through the whole territory. It is an old revolutionary town during the "Anti Japanese War". The town is located in the subtropical zone with mild climate, abundant rainfall and sufficient light. The annual average temperature is 21.2 ℃ and the annual average rainfall is 1510.3 mm. The terrain of the whole town is high in the north and low in the west, low in the South and low in the East. Most of the town belongs to shallow hills and plains, The average altitude is 4.2 meters, of which the area of plain (below 6 meters) accounts for 84.5% of the total area, the area of hills and hillsides above 6 meters accounts for 7.6% of the total area, and the water area accounts for 7.9%.
