Nan'ao Street

Nan'ao street, belonging to Dapeng New District, Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province, is located at the southernmost tip of Dapeng Peninsula in the east of Shenzhen city. It is surrounded by the sea on three sides, Daya Bay in the East, Dapeng Bay in the west, Pacific Ocean in the south, and Hong Kong, China across the sea. It is only 2 nautical miles away from Pingzhou Island, Hong Kong, and more than 60 kilometers away from Shenzhen city. Nan'ao is the largest street in Shenzhen, with a land area of 115.06 square kilometers and a sea area of 200 square kilometers. It has a quarter of the city's coastline. By the end of 2017, the total population of Nan'ao's streets was over 2, of which more than 7400 were registered residence. As of October 2019, Nan'ao street has nine communities under its jurisdiction.

Nan'ao street is a Hakka fishing port town in Shenzhen. It has a well preserved natural ecological area, with a mountain forest area of 9533.33 hectares and a forest coverage rate of more than 88%. Within its jurisdiction, Qiniang mountain is 869 meters above sea level. It is the second highest peak in Shenzhen and an important tourist area. With a length of 5.1km, Xichong beach is the longest and the best sandy beach in Dapeng Peninsula. It is honored as one of the "eight most beautiful coasts in China" by China National Geographic magazine and selected as the "ten most beautiful coasts in Guangdong Province".

Historical evolution

Nan'ao street has a long history. As early as the Neolithic period, people lived here, and left behind the ancient village sites of she'ao and xi'yongkou.

In the early years of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (1368-1398), the "old dapengsuo city" and the coastal defense pier were built at the xichongkou of Nan'ao.

According to the records of Baoan county annals, from 1662 to 1664, the imperial court twice issued the "order to move the boundary". It moved 80 Li inside and ordered the establishment of the boundary. The houses outside the boundary were completely destroyed and empty. At that time, Xin'an County shrank by two-thirds, and the population of Nan'ao was greatly reduced. In 1682, the Qing government announced the abolition of the "boundary removal order", and Nan'ao was redeveloped.

During the reign of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty (1796-1820), there was Nanao village without polders.

In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), Nan'ao was subordinate to Xin'an County (renamed Bao'an County in 1914).

In October 1938, the Communist Party of China established the Anti Japanese democratic government in Dongjiang area, the temporary administrative committee of Huiyang County, which belongs to Nan'ao.

In October 1949, Nan'ao belonged to Dapeng Township, the Fourth District of Huiyang county.

In November 1951, the Fourth District separated into the seventh district, and Nan'ao belonged to Dapeng township.

In October 1958, Dapeng commune was established, belonging to Nan'ao. In November of the same year, Nan'ao was transferred to Bao'an County along with Dapeng commune.

In July 1983, the commune was changed to District, and Nan'ao was subordinate to Dapeng district.

In October 1986, Dapeng was divided into Dapeng town and Nan'ao town.

In January 1993, Baoan county was divided into Baoan District and Longgang District, and Nan'ao town was subordinate to Longgang District.

In 2004, Bao'an District and Longgang District set up streets instead of towns, and Nan'ao Street office was still under the jurisdiction of Longgang District.

On December 30, 2011, Dapeng new district was established, and Nan'ao street is subordinate to Dapeng new district.

The coast belongs to the type of mountainous coast, with 14 bays nearby, such as shatanghai Bay, judiaosha Bay, dashuikeng Bay, Xichong Bay, Dalu Bay, Yangchou Bay, Nan'ao (Moon) Bay and Penzi Bay; 16 headlands, such as rongshujiao, haichaijiao, chuanbiyan corner and Shuitou corner; Xinda Bay Island, Baiyan Island, Lai's Island, milk Pai, strange Rock Island, huoshaopai and other 6 islands and reef islands.

Qiniang mountain is located in the middle of the town. Its main peak is 869 meters above sea level, which is the second highest mountain in Shenzhen. The rivers in Nan'ao Street are mountainous rivers supplied by rainwater, and the water quantity changes with the change of dry and wet seasons; the river course is short and steep, and the water flow is rapid, and most of the middle and upper reaches form waterfalls; the flow direction is radial and spreads around, forming several large rivers, such as Xindahe River Basin flowing to the northeast, Dongyong River Basin flowing to the south, Xichong River Basin flowing to the South and yangmeikeng River Basin flowing to the north Domain. There are 12 large and small Shantang reservoirs in the town, of which fengmulang reservoir, a large one, has a capacity of 4.75 million cubic meters.

Nan'ao street is connected to the inland in the north and surrounded by the sea on three sides. It is a necessary route for Yantian port, a major international cargo export port in the South China Sea. In the old days, Nan'ao only relied on the narrow Meisha highway, Kui Nan highway and Kui Peng highway. After the completion of Yanba expressway, Leigongshan tunnel and Diefushan tunnel, it took about 40 minutes from Shenzhen to Nan'ao, which used to be more than an hour. The highway passes Dapeng, Kwai Chung and Pingshan in the north and connects Huiyan Expressway and Shenzhen Shantou highway; in the west, it passes Dapeng, Kwai Chung, Xiaomeisha, Yantian and Shatoujiao to reach Shenzhen city.
