Historical evolution
In 518, Lianghua county was divided into Pingshi County in the north, which is located in Laopingshi County in the northwest of Lechang City.
Sui kaihuang 12 years (592 years), abandoned Pingshi County into Lianghua county.
Ming and Qing dynasties belong to yichua township of Lechang county and converted to Shangdu.
In Tongzhi of Qing Dynasty, Pingshi was one of the eight townships in Lechang.

Pingshi town is an important transportation hub in the north of Guangdong Province. Beijing Zhuhai Expressway, Guangle expressway, national highway 107, provincial highway 248 and 249 intersect in the town. Beijing Guangzhou railway runs through the town from north to south. Pingshi town is located in the upper reaches of Wujiang River. It was founded in the Qing Dynasty, and later became more and more prosperous.
