Guitou town

Guitou Town, a town under the jurisdiction of Ruyuan Yao Autonomous County, Shaoguan City, Guangdong Province, is an integral part of Furong new area, one of the three central towns of Ruyuan Yao Autonomous County, and a plain town of Ruyuan Yao Autonomous County. The town government is located on the Bank of Wujiang River in the northeast of the county city, bordering Chongyang town of Wujiang district and Lishi town of Zhenjiang District in the southeast, and Youxi town and Bibei town in the northwest It is adjacent to the town of mayor Lai of Lechang in the north. The administrative area is 124.51 square kilometers. By the end of 2018, the number of registered residence in Gui tou town was 38102. Historical evolution

In the northwest of guitou, there is Guishan mountain, also known as Guitang mountain. Guitou street is located in the south end of the eastern part of guitou, so it is named guitou. Guishan is named for its many osmanthus trees.

In 1940, guitou was a model town when Guangdong provincial government moved to Shaoguan.

In 1957, it was the county seat of shaobian Yao Autonomous County.

At the end of 1958, guitou commune was established.

In 1983, guitou commune was changed into guitou district.

In 1986, it was changed into guitou town.

In November 1988, Yangxi township was separated and designated as guifangdong forest farm in caotanping village.

In February 2001, Fangdong forest farm and Yangxi Township were merged into guitou town.

Guitou town is a plain town in Ruyuan Yao Autonomous County. The town government is located on the Bank of Wujiang River in the north-east of the county, 29 kilometers away from Shaoguan City in the South and 25 kilometers away from the county seat. Agriculture

Guitou town is a typical important agricultural production town. Due to the fertile land, subtropical climate, high temperature, abundant rainfall and long sunshine time, it is suitable for the growth of a variety of crops. Since ancient times, rice, peanuts, soybeans, vegetables, live pigs, "three birds" and other crops, animal husbandry, known as the "land of fish and rice" in Lingnan. Life customs

Guitou town is a typical place of Hakka people's living customs. There are 14 kinds of local dialects, of which Hakka is the main one. The people are hospitable and simple. There are mainly Han and Yao people living in guitou town. On the 2nd, 5th and 8th of the Gregorian calendar, the villagers rush to the market with their own agricultural and sideline products. Every year on the Dragon Boat Festival, the masses spontaneously race dragon boats on the Wujiang River. During the festive season, the masses beat gongs and drums, set off firecrackers and dance lions to celebrate. The villagers still keep the traditional habit of doing red and white things.

Tomb of Hou an Du and temple of Hou Sikong

Jiangbei Village, guitou Town, is the hometown of Hou an Du, with a "Tomb of Hou an Du" (destroyed); a Hou Sikong Temple (Minshan Sangong Temple) is built 1 km north of the tomb, commonly known as the superior Temple by the masses. In the spring of 1080, the third year of Yuanfeng in Song Dynasty, Li Bo, the magistrate of Baizhou (today's Bobai County in Guangxi), rebuilt Sikong temple. According to the record, "from Hengshan mountain to Guishan mountain, the temple at the foot of the mountain is the old home of Duke Sikong."
