Huangge Town

Huangge Town is subordinate to Nansha District, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, covering an area of 76.5 square kilometers (2017). Facing the Shiziyang and Pearl River Estuary, Huangge Town is adjacent to Hong Kong and Macao, and faces Dongguan City across the river. It is the center and hub of Hong Kong, Macao, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai and other urban agglomerations. The town has Huangge community and 14 administrative villages. The permanent population of the town was 55458 (2017).

In 2011, the GDP of Huangge Town was 24 billion yuan, an increase of 8% compared with 2010; the general budget revenue of Huangge Town was 101 million yuan, an increase of 13.62% compared with 2010.

In October 2019, Huangge Town was selected as one of the "Top 1000 towns with comprehensive strength in China in 2019".

In July 2020, the National Patriotic Health Association decided to name Huangge Town as a national health Township in the period of 2017-2019.

Historical evolution

Huangge was formerly known as Fenghuang Pavilion, also known as huangqijiao. It is named after Fenghuang Pavilion, a small hill behind the village. In Song Dynasty, it was called Huangge for short. In 1273, the five brothers of the Mai family from the Han Dynasty in the Central Plains moved southward with more than 200 family members because of the war and the rumor that the emperor lost his concubine. They changed Huangge to Huangge, which implied the meaning of Taige. According to the genealogy of the Mai family, on March 16, 1273, the five brothers of Mai birong, Mai Bixiu, Mai Bida, Mai Biduan and Mai bixiong in Zhuji lane, shiniutian square, Shixing County, Nanxiong Prefecture, moved to the Pearl River Estuary with their families of more than 200 people. They encountered strong winds and waves, landed and settled down on maiwu mountain. Later, he scattered to Hainan, Guangzhou, Zhanjiang, Dongguan, Nanhai, Shunde, Zhongshan and other places, and his descendants have been breeding up to now. According to the records of Xiaolan Mai's genealogy, "from bidazu to Huangge, Lixiang (mountain) donated 100000 yuan to build a stone foundation to prevent water disaster". According to the existing historical data, Huangge's "stone foundation" may be the earliest reclamation and stone dike project in southern Panyu. It turned out that there were tombs of Mai Pirong and Mai Bida in Shenwan village, Nansha Town. Later, Humen Bridge was built in 1994, and the descendants of Huang Ge Mai family moved the tombs of the two ancestors back to daheshan (lintouzui) in Huang Ge. Most of the contiguous sand fields in the town were artificially reclaimed for more than 700 years after the Southern Song Dynasty.

Originally Dongguan County, later Xiangshan County. Huangge commune was set up in 1958 and was transferred to Panyu County in 1959. In 1980, it was changed to Huangge district. In 1984, the people's commune was abolished and Huangge district was established; in 1987, Huangge Town was established under the jurisdiction of Panyu County; in 1992, Panyu county was removed to establish a city, and Huangge was Huangge Town of Panyu city; in 2000, Panyu city was removed to build a district, and Huangge was Huangge Town of Panyu District of Guangzhou City; in 2005, Huangge was separated from Panyu District into Nansha District, and was Huangge Town of Nansha District of Guangzhou city.

Huangge Town is located at 113.4 degrees east longitude and 22.8 degrees north latitude, facing Shiziyang in the East and across the sea from Dongguan City; it is bounded by Jiaomen waterway with Hengli Town in the South; Liugang waterway with yuwotou town in Panyu District in the West and Lianhuashan waterway with Shilou town in Panyu District in the North, covering an area of 76.5 square kilometers (2017).

In 2015, 12 cases of land acquisition were completed, covering an area of 1179.724 mu; 337 cases of house demolition on Farmers' collective land were completed, covering an area of 46393.76 square meters; 394 households were selected and settled in Qilin new town resettlement area, covering an area of 64359.38 square meters. In 2013, the water reform work of 12 villages in Huangge Town was orderly promoted, the construction of tingjiao village was completed, the main pipe laying of Dongli village was completed, the water reform bidding of nanyongkou, Tanwei, Liudong, Xinhai and Shazi villages was completed, and the preliminary design and project approval of Datang, Lianxi, Dajing, Dongwan and Jiaomen villages were completed. The construction of Xinhai section and Liudong section of Huangsha express line was restarted. We will promote the construction of six "village to village roads" including the road to Ho Tau Street, Xichong, Datang Village, and complete the construction of the new Shantang road in Dongli village.
