Taiyangping township is located in the north of Jingzhou Miao and Dong Autonomous County, with a total area of 90.84 square kilometers (in 2017). National Highway 209 and zhiliu railway run through the township, and the Qujiang River runs through the whole territory. The transportation of the township is convenient, so it is known as the "North Gate of Jingzhou". The township governs 14 administrative villages including Taiyangping, guanbaodu, Zhuge, Longtou, Jintan, Gucun, Shaxi, Xinjian, xingzhai, Balong, tuxi, jilizhai, dimang and Zhuzhai, 111 villager groups, with 10996 people (in 2017), and the existing cultivated land is 10890 mu. Most of Taiyangping township is located in Qujiang River valley basin, with low and gentle terrain and an average altitude of 320.6 meters, belonging to subtropical seasonal climate. The climate is mild with abundant rain and four distinct seasons. Our rural agriculture mainly produces grain, watermelon, citrus, Jinqiu pear, red bayberry, chestnut and so on. Rice is the main food crop with an annual output of 6120 tons. The township has formed more than 1300 Mu watermelon base mainly in Zhuge village, guanbaodu village and Longtou village; 3300 Mu citrus base mainly in guanbaodu village and Longtou village; 1400 mu jinqiuli base mainly in Taiyangping village and Gucun village; 2920 Mu waxberry base mainly in Zhuzhai village and Gucun Village (Ikeda); 3000 mu chestnut forest base mainly in Balong village; and more than 600 mu base mainly in Balong village and Taiyangping village Nursery stock base.
