The street got its name because "Lianxi River" flows through the territory. Originally belonging to Daojiang Town, it is an ancient city with a long history and an important town in southern Hunan. Since the first year of Tianbao (742), Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, he has been the seat of the county, prefecture, road and government. In 1935, it was named Chongling town after Chongling mountain. In 1947, Wen'an town was changed. In September 1950, it was renamed Daojiang Town, a township town under the jurisdiction of the county. In June 1952, it was promoted to a district level town. In June 1956, Daojiang town was replaced by township town. In July 1960, it was changed into Daojiang people's commune. In November 1962, it was restored to Daojiang town. in August 2010, Daojiang town was withdrawn and two streets were set up. Taking Lianxi River as the boundary, Lianxi street is on the north bank and Xizhou street is on the south bank.
