Aoquan town
Aoquan town is under the jurisdiction of Guiyang County, Chenzhou City, Hunan Province. With a long history, there are Xiangshan Pavilion and other Buddhist monuments, named after aoquanwei, the government's residence.
Aoquan town is 31 kilometers away from Guiyang County, located in the hinterland of Guiyang County. It is adjacent to Chongling River in the south, Liufeng town in the north, Yutian Township, Heping Township, Zhangmu Township and Ouyanghai township. Aoquan town governs 10 administrative villages and 156 villager groups, with a total population of 12391 (2017), 28 party branches and 891 party members, with a total area of 135.35 square kilometers (2017), 44298 mu of arable land and 109169 mu of forest land.
The town has convenient transportation. The provincial highway 214 and 323 meet in the border area. Chongling River, a tributary of Xiangjiang River, flows around the town. It is also the throat connecting the north and South counties. It is the only way from Chenzhou to Xintian, from Guiyang to Yongzhou, and from Guiyang to Changning.

History and origin of names
Aoquan town has a long history. Xiangshan Pavilion in the town, formerly known as "Xiangshan nunnery", is a Buddhist monument. Built in the Song Dynasty, it has a history of more than 760 years. This shows that, at least in the Song Dynasty, there was a relatively developed culture and education in this area. Later, because the people's Government here was originally stationed in aoquanwei, it was named "Aoquan town".
Evolution of administrative districts
In 1957, it was Aoquan township of Guiyang County, one of the six basic townships established in Guiyang County. On December 31, 1997, the township was removed and the town was built.

There are many places of interest in the township, such as Xiangshan Pavilion, seven arch bridges, Wenxi Pavilion, huayuanbao, Longquan City (now aoquanwei). Xiangshan pavilion was built in the Song Dynasty. It was originally a Buddhist nunnery, called Xiangshan nunnery. There are ancient stone tablets and other cultural relics in it.
Built in the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, the seven arch bridge crossed chonglingshui and became a traffic bridge connecting the north and south of the county. In the ninth year of Xianfeng in the Qing Dynasty, Shi Dakai Department of the Taiping army fought with Chen Shijie's regiment here. Wenxi pavilion was built in Jiaqing period of Qing Dynasty. All of them exist now. The garden fort near the seven arch bridge was built in the first year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty, which was the largest of the 24 forts in Guiyang; Chuanshan Academy was built near Wulong Village.
In October 1979, Ouyanghai bridge with reinforced concrete structure was built 100 meters to the east of the seven arch bridge, which became the largest bridge of Guiyang Hengyang line and Guiyang Xintian line before 1988.
