Zhexi town

Zhexi town is located in Anhua County, Yiyang City, Hunan Province. The town is 10 kilometers away from Anhua County in the northeast, and yangshaxi is set up in the town. Zhexi town is named after the dam of Zhexi power station near Hengjiang river. Zhexi town is a young market town integrating reservoir area, forest area, suburban industrial and mining area. There are Dongping, Nanjin, Tianzhuang, luma and other towns around.

It covers an area of 142.58 square kilometers (2017) and has a population of 14166 people (2017). It governs one community and eight villages.

In November 2017, Zhexi town was awarded the fifth national civilized village.

General situation of the town

The construction of Zhexi town originated in 1962, when the first unit of Zhexi power station was installed to generate electricity, the Hunan Provincial Government approved the construction of Zhexi town. Later, due to the immature conditions, the construction of Zhexi town failed. In August 1990, the provincial government approved the establishment of Zhexi town. Seven villages, including Yangsha, zhexikou, Darong, Baihe, Guangyi, Qunyi and Xiaozhe, which originally belonged to Zhexi Township, Tangxi Township and Zhongdi Township, were under the management of Zhexi town. At the same time, the original Yangsha village was abolished and two neighborhood committees, Zhexi power station and Yangsha, were set up. In 1995, the whole county was withdrawn from the district and merged into the township. Tangxi township was merged into Zhexi town. Six villages in qingshanyuan Township, including Huilong, Huangbao, Shuangqiao, Sujia, Xiaomu and Dongfeng, and two villages in Zhongdi Township, Liping and Baimu, were under the management of Zhexi town. Zhexi town has a total area of 142.58 square kilometers (2017), including 158000 mu of forest land, 16000 mu of water surface and 2200 mu of paddy field. Baihe and Darong are rich in tungsten resources, with reserves of 7840 tons. The total population was 14166 (2017), and the non-agricultural population was 43.58 million.

Reservoir resettlement

Zhexi town has experienced three times of resettlement, including 12 resettlement villages in the reservoir area and 4 site resettlement villages, with a total of 6573 immigrants. At that time, 2180 mu of paddy field, 2820 mu of mountain soil, 11100 mu of mountain forest and more than 20000 square meters of public and private houses were lost, which brought serious difficulties to the local people's production and life. The per capita cultivated land of six immigrant villages was less than 0.1 mu, so the economic development was slow. In 1991, the total output value of industry and agriculture was only 1.62 million yuan, and the per capita net income of farmers was 226 yuan. From 1992 to 1996, the town adjusted its industrial structure according to local conditions. It successively built 1200 mu of Eucommia ulmoides base, 2500 mu of Phyllostachys pubescens base, 800 mu of medicinal materials base, 1500 mu of fruit base, transformed 1200 mu of low yield tea garden, cultivated more than 500 mu of high-quality tea base, and developed more than 3500 mu of water culture in the reservoir area, which laid a foundation for the economic development of the town.

In 1996, the total industrial and agricultural output value of the town reached 53.144 million yuan, including 17.0759 million yuan from agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery industry, accounting for 31.1%, and 36.0681 million yuan from other secondary and tertiary industries, accounting for 67.9%. The per capita net income of farmers is 843 yuan. The annual fiscal and tax revenue was 2.84 million yuan, three times higher than that in the early days of the town's construction. It produces 1650.5 tons of grain, 28 tons of tea, 150 tons of fruit and 6119 pigs. The economy of the whole town develops steadily.
