Xiaoshajiang town

Xiaoshajiang town belongs to longhui County, Shaoyang City, Hunan Province, located in the northwest of longhui County. It is located at the east foot of the middle Xuefeng mountains, which is known as the "mysterious oasis of the world", with jinshiqiao town in the East, Matang mountain and dashuitian Township in the south, longzhuangwan Township and gezhuping Township in Xupu County in the west, huxingshan Yao Township and Yanxi Township in Xupu County in the north. 97 kilometers away from the county, S312 provincial road passes through the territory, with an average altitude of 1350 meters and an average annual temperature of 11 ℃. It is a Typical Alpine mountain area.

Xiaoshajiang town has jurisdiction over xiaoshajiang neighborhood committee and 14 villages including Jiangbian, Jinzhushan, Baiyin, Dongjiang, xiaojialong, shanmuping, huangwan, Wangxi, Xianglong, Yanbei, Longping, Guanghua, Guanglong and Hualong. The town has a total area of 167.66 square kilometers (2017) and a total population of 24562 (2017).

Historical evolution

Before liberation, it was called Yaoshan eighteen caves. At the beginning of the people's Republic of China, it belonged to four districts of Shaoyang County. Xiaoshajiang people's commune was established in 1958. The township level town was established in 1991 and merged with the former xiaoshajiang town and Longping town in 1995.

Agriculture has 20323 mu of arable land, including 15935 mu of paddy field. Rice is the main grain, and corn and potato are produced. In 1999, the total output of rice was 6124 tons, corn 320 tons and potato 1800 tons. Agricultural and sideline products include Chinese herbal medicine, wood, bamboo, fruit, live pig, etc. The forest area is 155262 mu, with a coverage rate of 60%. The agriculture of the whole town has been transformed from the traditional agriculture to the modern high-efficiency and ecological agriculture.

It has rich resources of Chinese herbal medicine, and has become one of the six major production bases of Chinese herbal medicine, with a planting area of 120000 mu, 178 varieties, and 32 leading varieties such as honeysuckle, Atractylodes macrocephala, Eucommia ulmoides and Gastrodia elata. The products sell well in 32 provinces and cities such as Guangdong, Fujian, Hubei and Shandong, and are exported to Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore. The output value is more than 100 million yuan, and the annual income is 15 million yuan, accounting for 40% of the agricultural output value.

There are abundant small hydropower resources, the potential installed capacity of 1200 kW Longping I, II power station.

There are rich tourism resources and famous tourist attractions. The summer is as cool as spring, and the scenery is beautiful. Two summer resorts have been built, and ten famous scenic spots have been opened, including Baxian chess Pavilion, Hongyan Mountain Sun watching platform, Zushan Xianquan, Fenshui Guansheng temple, Xianglu Baoding and Leiyin temple. There are Wangxi waterfall, tiger shaped rock waterfall and Grand Canyon. There are 2 middle schools, 19 primary schools, 4 cable TV stations, 2 TV turntables and 1 cultural station in the town. There is a central hospital with digital and microwave program-controlled telephone. The pharmaceutical market with an investment of 30 million yuan and an area of 15000 meters has been completed.

Honeysuckle

In 2001, longhui County was named "the hometown of honeysuckle in China" by the State Forestry Administration.

Xiaoshajiang, Matang mountain, Huxing mountain and other mountainous towns in the northwest of longhui are high, foggy, warm and rainy, which are very suitable for planting honeysuckle. Longhui county Party committee and county government take advantage of the situation and send special working groups to implement policies and funds for the development of honeysuckle. More than 100000 farmers rely on planting honeysuckle to get rid of poverty. The planting area of honeysuckle in the county has reached 200000 mu, with an annual total output of more than 9000 tons, accounting for 60% of the total output of the country. It has become the largest production base of honeysuckle in the country, with an annual total output value of 130 million yuan.

Longcanghong Kiwifruit

The northwest of longhui County is located in the middle foot of Xuefeng mountains. Xiaoshajiang Town, known as "Little Tibet", has beautiful mountains and rivers, pleasant climate and rich water resources. It is one of the regions with the richest germplasm resources and the earliest history of artificial cultivation in China.
