Liushanhu town

Liushanhu town is one of the two resettlement towns in the whole province, which is the concentrated resettlement reclamation area in Lushui reservoir area, the Three Gorges experimental dam determined by the state in 1958.

On May 26, 2020, liushanhu town was selected into the list of strong agricultural towns in 2020.

In July 2020, the National Patriotic Health Association decided to name liushanhu town as a national health Township in the period of 2017-2019.

Liushanhu town is located in the northwest of Chibi City, at the intersection of Lushui Lake and Yangtze River. It borders Chebu town and Meihu in the southeast, Lushui River in the north and Chibi town in the west, 40 km away from Chibi City. Liushanhu town is a centralized resettlement and reclamation area in the reservoir area of Lushui reservoir project directly under the central government, which is the experimental dam of the Three Gorges Project. It is the earliest resettlement and centralized resettlement town in Hubei Province. It is one of the only two resettlement towns in Hubei Province, and also the only resettlement town in schistosomiasis endemic area in Hubei Province.

In the past 40 years, liushanhu town has experienced the historical transformation of setting up a town, setting up a village and setting up a town. The institutional evolution of liushanhu town has gone through four stages: in 1969, it was named liushanhu (Dongfanghong) farm, and in January 1970, it was officially renamed Dongfanghong Farm; in October 1970, Dongfanghong Farm (liushanhu) was incorporated into Chibi commune; in 1984, it was established as liushanhu township; in August 1987, it was upgraded to liushanhu town. The name of the village was changed twice. In the early stage of migration, the name of each settlement was Hongqi Village (Liushan), Hongyan Village (lalishan), Hongwei Village (Baotashan), Hongguang Village (Tuanshan), Hongxing Village (Yijiadi) and Yonghong Village (wujiamen). In August 1970, the original name was restored.

At present, there are 40 village (resident) groups with 7460 people in Liushan Lake (2017). Liushanhu town is a semi plain area with flat terrain and mild climate. The annual average temperature is 16.8 ° C. The average annual rainfall is 1486mm. There are 18 ports and streams in the territory.
