LANGPING town
LANGPING town is subordinate to Changyang Tujia Autonomous County in Hubei Province. It is adjacent to Zigui County in the north, Badong County in Enshi Prefecture in the west, Hejiaping town in the East and Ziqiu town in the south. It is known as the "west gate of Yichang".
LANGPING town has a land area of 531.3 square kilometers, under the jurisdiction of 12 administrative villages, with a total population of 38135 (2017). In 2011, the town achieved a total industrial and agricultural output value of 325.58 billion yuan.
LANGPING town is an important producing area of medicinal papaya in China and the birthplace of cooperative medical treatment in China. Historical evolution
In the early Qing Dynasty, the two sons of Qin Shilu, a Zhongwei general who was buried here, had two luxury houses. The house site was divided into shanglangting and xialangting. Later, the village was destroyed by the flood, and the xialangting was changed into LANGPING with a long nut tree, and shanglangting into shanglangping. Lang Ping got its name. In the Ming Dynasty, it belonged to Anning township; in the late Qing Dynasty, foreign businessmen from Hubei, such as Huangpi, Shashi and Yichang, came here one after another to do business and settle down, gradually forming a small market town. after the 28th year of the Republic of China (1937), it was the office of langcha township. In 1945, LANGPING was changed to langcha township. In July 1949, LANGPING was changed into the seventh district. In August 1951, LANGPING was changed into the ninth district. In August 1958, LANGPING people's commune was established. In June 1961, it was changed to LANGPING district. In September 1987, LANGPING town was officially established. In January 2001, LANGPING town and yuanleyuan Township were merged into LANGPING Town, a town under the jurisdiction of Changyang County.
